The danger level in the Gulf is rising fast, in spite of the recent rays of hope, with no lasting solution possible. When the Gulf was named Persian, the Arab States were an insignificant collection of tribal groups, imposed at will by the Ottoman Empire, the British interests and even, at a time, the Portuguese.
