(Associate Professor in the Department of Defence Studies at King's College London. His new book, “The New Political Islam: Human Rights, Democracy and Justice” has been published by the University of Pennsylvania Press. The book examines different manifestations of contemporary Islamism. He is the author of Political Islam in Central Asia (Routledge, 2010) and Energy and Security in the Caucasus (Routledge, 2002)
