True to its original full title, the 12TH Doha Forum offers a sweeping overview of issues regarding Democracy, Development and Free Trade in the Middle-East, the Arab countries and the world. More broadly, this international meeting discusses critical political, economic, social, financial, strategic and human matters of pressing concern for a region witnessing some of the most substantial changes in its very long history.

George Protopapas (RIEAS Research Associate - Media Analyst) participated as moderator and speaker in International Conference “Russia and Europe: Topical Issues of Contemporary International Journalism”. He delivered a speech on “National Interests and Journalism”. The conference held in Paris 24-25 November 2011 and organized by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and Federal Agency for Press and Mass Communications.

George Protopapas (RIEAS Research Associate & Media Analyst) participated in the IV International Regional Conference Counter Terrorism Challenges in the Region of South Eastern Europe. He delivered a speech on “Greek Cyber Defence: Problems and Prospects”, in Maribor (27-29  September 2011). The International Conference was organized  by Slovenian Ministry of Defence, USA Embassy in Ljubljana, Centre For Civil –Military Relations Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey USA.

Dr. John M. Nomikos delivered a paper on “European Union Joint Situation Center: A Necessary Tool for Transatlantic Intelligence Cooperation?” in the Annual Netherlands Intelligence Studies Association (NISA) Conference on The Future of Intelligence: Threats, Challenges, Opportunities, in the Netherlands Defence Academy, on 27-29 May 2011, The Hague, Netherlands.
