RIEAS has appointed RIEAS Regional Directors in Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Portugal, USA and South-East, Australia. RIEAS plans to organize workshops in the Balkan states in the near future. 
Dr. Petrus Duvenage joined RIEAS International Advisory Board. Dr. Duvenage completed his Ph.D in Political Science at the University of Pretoria (South Africa) in 2010. His doctoral thesis, entitled “Open-Source Environmental Scanning and Risk Assessment in the Statutory Counterespionage milieu”, examines the utilization of overt information in statutory counterespionage practice. A conceptual framework for the methodological structuring of open-source based environmental scanning, aimed at the identification and assessment of espionage risks to national security, is advanced. 
Dr. Armen Oganesyan joined RIEAS International Advisory Board. Dr. Oganesyan is Editor in Chief for the Journal of International Affairs in Russia. Read more
Dr. Shlomo Shpiro (deputy head of the political studies department at Bar-Ilan University, Senior Research Fellow at the BESA Center for Strategic Studies and RIEAS Member of International Advisory Board) published an article on “Calm Winds and Following Seas” in the Jerusalem Post (31 May 2011).
